Our Favorite Golf Courses: Insider Tips and Recommendations

Myrtle Beach is known as the Golf Capital of the World, and for good reason. With nearly 90 courses in the area, there’s something for every skill level. From scenic oceanfront fairways to challenging championship layouts. If you’re staying at Grande Cayman Resort, you’re perfectly positioned to tee off at some of the top golf courses on the Grand Strand. Here are a few of our favorites, along with insider tips to help you get the most out of your game.

Pine Lakes Country Club

Just minutes from Grande Cayman Resort, Pine Lakes is known as “The Granddaddy”,  the first golf course in Myrtle Beach, opened in 1927. This historic course features a traditional layout with well-kept fairways and challenging water hazards. Insider tip: Morning tee times offer cooler temps and a quieter course. Don’t forget to check out the elegant clubhouse, a perfect spot to unwind after your round.

Grande Dunes Resort Course

Grande Dunes offers one of the most scenic rounds in Myrtle Beach, with sweeping views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The course layout is both forgiving and strategic, making it a great option for mid to low handicappers. Insider tip: Use the GPS carts to your advantage. The layout can be tricky, and course knowledge goes a long way here.

Tidewater Golf Club

Located a bit further north in North Myrtle Beach, Tidewater is worth the drive for its stunning marsh views and challenging holes. This course is often ranked among the top in the area. Insider tip: Book your tee time in advance, this popular course fills up quickly, especially in peak seasons.

Myrtlewood Golf Club

Just a short drive down Ocean Boulevard, Myrtlewood offers two solid choices: the scenic Palmetto course and the slightly more technical PineHills. Both are well-maintained and beginner-friendly. Insider tip: Grab a twilight tee time to save on rates and enjoy a beautiful sunset finish.

Arcadian Shores Golf Club

Designed by renowned architect Rees Jones, Arcadian Shores features tree-lined fairways and challenging greens. It’s a local favorite and a great value for the experience. Insider tip: Keep your driver in check, accuracy is more important than distance on many of these holes.
