Grande Cayman Resort’s Renovations and Upgrades Set to Be Completed in April

Known for years as Long Bay Resort, our oceanfront oasis got a new name in fall of 2019 — when the conveniently located Myrtle Beach property officially became Grande Cayman Resort. And soon, we’ll be unveiling a whole new look and theme, along with some exciting new features!

Read on for some updates on what’s in the works with our construction and renovation projects from Grande Cayman Resort’s Project Coordinator Brock Ridgeway, plus some details on what each upgrade entails:

Room Renovations: “Interior renovations of the rooms in the Main Tower are about 90% completed through the 7th floor,” Ridgeway says. “The South Tower will follow that, and both are expected to be opened spring of 2020.
“Improvements in the rooms will include new LVT (luxury vinyl tile) flooring in the bedrooms, living rooms and kitchens, plus new crown molding and baseboards, and shiplap accents. The rooms are also getting all-new black appliances, smoothed ceilings, new interior doors, new paint, new artwork, new lighting, new seating, and completely remodeled bathrooms that will feature new tile. Some units are also getting brand-new furniture.”

Interior Paint: “The color palette of the rooms will feature Sherwin-Williams paints and a set of colors that complement one another, plus reflect the resort’s new branding,” Ridgeway says. “Colors will include Repose Gray (a medium gray), Rejuvenate (a terra cotta-like color), Mariner (a shade of aqua) and Pure White.”

Exterior Paint: “The exterior paint and waterproofing workers have been following the interior guys,” Ridgeway says. “They are coming along well and have the entire oceanfront, north side and south side painted. They are also working on the parking garage. Painting crews will be working on the resort’s hallways as the interiors are released.”

Turtle Bay Café

“The on-site Turtle Bay Café has been expanded by about 12 feet to create additional space, and we’ve created a new entryway,” Ridgeway says. “We’ve also given the bar area a new layout, put in new flooring, added shiplap accents, and put in new seating and tables.”

Due South at 72nd restaurant: Another on-site restaurant, Due South at 72nd, is also undergoing major renovations. This space, where resort guests can enjoy a huge breakfast buffet, lunches and dinner. The new restaurant will be outfitted with brand new furniture, including chairs, tables, stools and booths; new lighting fixtures; and a renovated bar area with a new quartz bar top, updated backsplash tiles, a new draft tower and rustic wood shelving. The restaurant will also get an all-new logo and updated color accents in fun tropical tones.

New Resort Sign: “An all-new sign will also welcome guests to the newly renovated Grande Cayman Resort,” Ridgeway says. “It features the sea turtle/palm tree icon seen in our new logo, along with the resort’s new aqua/terra cotta color scheme. It will also include a roughly 4.5 foot-by-8.5 foot LED screen beneath the resort name that can display changing images showing such things as promotional offers, resort events, welcome messages and the like—a high-tech way to welcome our resort guests and let them know about ongoing activities upon their arrival.”
