For Instagram enthusiasts, taking a vacation presents a big opportunity to add some color and culture from the day’s destination to their personal feeds on the popular photo-driven social network. And as most highly active Instagrammers know, the most post-worthy of vacation images are the ones that capture the true personality and charm of the highlighted locale.

Of course, on the Grand Strand, there’s no shortage of places to snap some jaw-dropping photos that convey the essence and beauty of the Carolina coast. And, while beach scenes may get top billing here, some of the area’s most colorful photo opportunities might be found in its larger-than-life public artworks — the area’s famed murals.

During your next Myrtle Beach visit, plan an oceanfront stay at Long Bay Resort, then head out to take (and post) some selfies with these four distinctly Grand Strand murals in the background:

Lulu’s Cafe: Found on North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, the brightly colored painting adorning the exterior wall of this breakfast/lunch hot spot measures more than 60 feet in width and features the Myrtle Beach skyline, a giant sun, a wave-riding surfer, a fun beach scene, a diving dolphin and more. Easily recognized by locals and visitors alike as uniquely Myrtle Beach, it’s also a great background for a distinctly Grand Strand Instagram post. Check out the artistic opportunity that awaits by visiting the Lulu’s Café Facebook page.

The Coop Bar & Grill: Located on Highway 544 in Conway and popular among Coastal Carolina University students, The Coop features an outside deck area that boasts plenty of picnic tables for soaking up some sunshine with some pub grub and a cool beverage of choice. It’s also a great spot for snapping an Instagram shot thanks to the massive, collage-style mural that adorns the bar and grill’s exterior wall. To learn more about The Coop, visit its Facebook page.

Borgata Restaurant: Found on Surfside Drive in Surfside Beach, the “Hat Lady” mural on the exterior wall of The Borgata bar & restaurant has a throwback feel thanks to the retro beach attire its beach-bathing subject adorns. The ocean in the artwork’s background fills the horizon, while the sign’s fancy “Surfside Beach” lettering further projects a vintage feel. See a photo of the mural here, and learn more about the artist behind it here.

Myrtle Beach Convention Center: Named “Right Whales off the South Carolina Coast” and representing the 49th installment in a series of 100 murals painted worldwide by famed marine artist Wyland, the mural adorning the outer wall of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center features a pair of larger-than-life whales and towers over viewers at 50 feet high by 240 feet long. Bottlenose dolphins and loggerhead turtles bring additional marine life to the scene, which can be seen on the convention center’s website.

After capturing some of the area’s best scenery for your upcoming Instagram post(s), head back to your comfortable oceanfront accommodations at Long Bay Resort to relax — and enjoy some of the property’s fun on-site amenities.
