A twisting, turning, three-story waterslide, a relaxing, winding lazy river, and indoor/outdoor swimming pools? It may sound like attractions at the newest waterpark in Myrtle Beach, but it’s actually just some of the many amenities guests can enjoy for free at Grande Cayman Resort.
Grande Cayman Resort, Myrtle Beach has long been known for its on-site water facilities, and now that list is even longer with the addition of the new waterslide to the oceanfront property. Located on the north side of the building in the Silly Sub Waterpark and aquatic playground, the new aqua-blue waterslide is the crown jewel of Grande Cayman’s water facilities.
A 30-foot tower allows guests to climb to the top of the slide and prepare for a breathtaking ride down the enclosed chute. Experience the rush of the water as the tunnel goes dark and takes you for a twisting ride to the bottom. Suddenly, the light reappears just in time to finish your wild dash down the slide with a big splashdown.
Once you return to dry ground it’s back to the top for as many rides as you can handle, or you can take a break to enjoy some of the other entertaining attractions Grande Cayman has to offer. Children can splash and play on the Silly Sub, a yellow submarine where kids can use their imaginations to play sub commander, or soak up some sun and water in the series of fountains shaped as palm trees, giant umbrellas, sea monsters and more.
For those who prefer to take advantage of the oceanfront location, Grande Cayman features an enormous beachfront pool deck. The large pool serves as the centerpiece, surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs, a jumbo sized jacuzzi and easy access points to the beach. Wooden walkways allow you to go to and from the beach with ease, and hose off the sand.
But what do you do on those rainy and cloudy days? Grande Cayman guests don’t have to wait out the weather in their rooms thanks to one of the biggest indoor water facilities on the Grand Strand. Featuring a large pool, twisting lazy river, and kiddie pools with water fountains, the kids have plenty of places to play on a rainy day. And with relaxing hot tubs and a rejuvenating sauna, the grownups can join in the fun too.
Grande Cayman has plenty of amenities on dry land, including an actual-sized chess and checker board on the pool deck and an official shuffleboard court for some friendly competition. Grab a meal or a drink at one of the on-site restaurants and cafes, such as the Oceanfront Grill, Due South at 72nd Restaurant or Starbucks, and work off those calories in the state of the art exercise room and fitness center. There’s also an arcade that offers the latest high-tech video games.
Of course, many parents hope to keep their children away from video games during their Myrtle Beach vacation, and Grande Cayman offers an excellent alternative with the Kids Club. Offering a wide range of arts and crafts projects, beach and pool games, and ice cream socials, the Kids Club provides free, daily activities to help the little ones have a good time while also making friends with other children staying at the resort.
