Myrtle Beach’s Fall Festivals Have International Flair

You don't have to be a world traveler to vacation in Myrtle Beach, but visitors to the Grand Strand this fall can have a true international experience. As the summer fades into autumn, the fall festival season gets under way in Myrtle Beach. And this year's lineup gives guests at Long Bay Resort the opportunity to take virtual trip around the world.

Among the international-themed events scheduled for the autumn is the 24th Annual Myrtle Beach Greek Festival. Held Sept. 24-27 at St. John's Greek Orthodox Church at the corner of Highway 17 Bypass and 33rd Avenue North, about three miles from the resort, this four-day festival features authentic food and music and arts and crafts from Greek culture. Try the Gyros, Roasted Lamb and Falafels, wash it down with wine, beer or soft drinks, and shop at the vendor tents that offer Greek-themed wares. Children can play in the kids play area, or join in the festivities on the main stage and dance floor while the adults take tours of the church and browse the wares on display by local artists and craftsmen.

Continuing the international theme, the 12th Annual Irish Italian Festival combines the cultures of Ireland and Italy into one fun-filled event. Featuring the famous music and food of the two countries, the Irish Italian Festival gives guests the chance to sample the native cuisines and dance along to the music on the main stage at the Horseshoe at the corner of Main Street and Ocean Drive in North Myrtle Beach on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The international theme ends up in Germany with a pair of Oktoberfest celebrations – one at Market Common on Oct. 2-3 and the following week in the downtown district Oct. 10-11. Featuring German food and beer, live music, car shows and kids activities, these are just part of the bigger fall lineup for events.
