How to Find Hidden Gems in Myrtle Beach

The beach, restaurants, attractions; they’re all popular spots to hit on a Myrtle Beach vacation. They are places you’ll have a great time, every time. This town is full of them, and that’s what makes it such a huge travel destination.

It’s also filled with lesser-known places some travelers have discovered along the way.

We’re sure you have a few too. Here are some favorites you should check out on your next Myrtle Beach excursion. They’ll add a little something between rounds of golf or afternoons of fun in the sun on the beach.

Tips for Discovering Something New in Myrtle Beach

Don’t plan too rigidly. Showtimes and breakfast hours are one thing. But giving yourself a morning to explore the area can yield great rewards. Walk it. Check out a few blocks around some of your favorite places in Myrtle Beach. Take yourself out to eat. If you’re flying solo, pick a restaurant you’ve never tried before.

Explore the Hidden Gems

Atalaya Castle

You’ll find beauty and history at this site, in Murrells Inlet. Peek through this window to the past, preserved at Huntington State Park. It’s a scenic spot where you might see wedding parties and families snapping photos. Time stands still here, but you’ll want to visit again and again.

Brookgreen Gardens

This botanic garden is one-of-a-kind, and is worth the trip to Myrtle Beach by itself! Its sculptures along the winding path in a beautiful garden are awe-inspiring. Words don’t do justice to just how stunning this place is for a walk in nature and art you won’t get anywhere else.

Fishing at Myrtle Beach State Park

Pay a small fee for park entrance, then fish off the pier at no additional charge. This well-maintained, beautiful beach is a wonderful backdrop for a day spent with lines in the water. Visit the gift shop for snacks, or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds.

Hobcaw Barony Tours

See one of the most beautiful tracts of the peninsula in the U.S, Waccamaw Neck. It’s between Winyah Bay and the ocean. Don’t miss ghost story hour at friendship village! It’s the spot for discovering Lowcountry history. The amazing staff is happy to share their knowledge.
